You don't need to spend a lot of money to sightsee and enjoy Brisbane. Head to one of the many parks and outdoor spaces that the city has to offer and enjoy a few hours, or a day, in the great outdoors.
Below is a list of some of our favourite parks and gardens in Brisbane.
Roma Street Parklands
Location: 1 Parkland Boulevard, Brisbane.
(10-15 minute walk or 3 mintues by car from Oxygen Apartments)
One of the closest parks to Oxygen Apartments is also considered one of the premier parks in our city.
Stroll the stunning gardens and precincts, boasting a bright display of blooming flowers year round. Must-see attractions of Roma Street Parklands include: Spectacle Garden at Colin Campbell Place, The Rainforest and Fern Gully, Queensland Greats wall, Lake Precinct, Celebration Precinct, the Upper Parkland. You can also join free guided walking tours.
City Botanic Gardens
Location: 147 Alice Street, Brisbane
(8 minutes by car, approx 25 mintus by foot from Oxygen Apartments)
Discover the sights of The City Botanic Gardens including Bamboo Grove, Jemmy Morrill and the Brolgas Sculpture, Ornamental Ponds, Walter Hill Fountain, and the majestic Weeping Fig Avenue. There’s a children's playground that the kids are sure to love, you can also enjoy free guided walking tours, and The Gardens Club cottage with an onsite cafe or order a picnic basket to enjoy in the park.
If you're looking for an event venue: The park offers 10 outdoor designated booking areas that may be reserved for wedding ceremonies and corporate functions.
Brisbane Botanic Gardens Mt Coot-tha
Location: Mt Coot-tha Road, Toowong
(12-15 minutes by car from Oxygen Apartments)
Head to Queensland’s premier subtropical botanic gardens and discover the natural beauty that lies abounds in 56 hectares of botanic gardens.
If you are looking for activities they also offer kids story times, free guided walking tours and gardening workshops are available.
Brisbane Botanic Gardens Mt Coot-tha is open to the public each day from 8am to 5:30pm (September until March) and 8am to 5:00pm (April through August).
This is also the site of Queensland Herbarium, Sir Thomas Brisbane Planetarium, Mt Coot-the Library and Gardens Cafe.
South Bank Parklands
Location: South Bank, Brisbane
(8-12 minute drive or about half an hour walk from Oxygen Apartments)
You may have heard about South Bank cultural precinct, home to Queensland Performing Arts Centre, Queensland Museum and Sciencentre and QAGOMA ... but did you know it also boasts 17 hectares of lush parklands?
Enjoy a swim with the family at the patrolled, man-made ‘Streets Beach’, or splash in the water play area for the younger kids.
Kids are also well catered for with Picnic Island Playground and Riverside Green Playground.
