City Botanic Gardens are Brisbane’s original botanical gardens and are still very much a favourite place for locals and visitors.
Wander along the river, enjoy the bamboo grove with an impressive 23 species of bamboo, ornamental ponds, a sculpture of Jemmy Morrill shipwreck survivor, Walter Hill Fountain built in 1867 to provide drinking water to the public and the majestic Weeping Fig Avenue.
Regular events are held at Riverstage the city’s outdoor amphitheatre for entertainment.
Perfect for picnic’s on the open grassed areas and sheltered pavilion or visit The Gardens Club café open 8am-4pm daily for coffee, food and drinks.
Free guided walks are offered by volunteers, a leisurely stroll discussing the gardens history, the plants and attractions for around one hour.
