The much loved Spring Hill Alive Festival will be held on Saturday the 14th of November 2015!
Entry to the event is FREE all day long, and will be located in the Boundary Street precinct on Spring Hill, Brisbane.
Come along from 10am to 5pm, for a great day of community based fun for all the family.
Delivering something to please everyone, this event is a bold cultural celebration. On the program you’ll find live music, arts and craft markets, vibrant spring flower displays, great kids activities and loads of food trucks serving ever popular (and delicious) ‘street food’.
A little history about the event: The first Spring Hill Fair was held in 1973. Launched by local entrepreneur and philanthropist, the late Cecilia McNally MBE, it soon became one of Brisbane’s most popular community and charitable fund raising events.
On an unofficial note, the Spring Hill Fair really started a few years earlier when Ms McNally organised neighborhood get together’s with the aim of getting to know her neighbours and raising money for charity.
The Spring Hill Fair boast a focus on arts, crafts, local talent and bringing community together, it was a
two-day Spring-time event that became an annual tradition for both locals and the
greater Brisbane community.
Interestingly, Brisbane 80’s indie rock band ‘The Go-Betweens’, released their third album titled “Spring Hill Fair” back in September 1984. The band named this album after the annual event, as all of the band members had at one time or another lived in the area of Spring Hill.
